Workshop
Descriptions
Training Credit Information Training
credit will be given to everyone who attends conference general sessions and
workshop sessions. To receive training
credit, you must attend the entire
workshop or training session and have your attendance sheet stamped at the end
of each session. If you are more than 15
minutes late for a session, or if you fail to turn in your attendance sheet at
the end of the conference, you will not
receive credit for attending.
Hotel Information This
conference will be held at the Chicago Oak Brook Marriott, 1401 West 22nd Street, Oak
Brook, IL. The phone
number is (630) 573-8555.
Hotel Reservation/Incidentals
Deposit Information All foster, adoptive, relative and guardianship caregivers qualify for a hotel
room for Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25, 2008.
IFAPA will pay room + tax charges only
(not incidental charges) for all caregivers; however, they will not guarantee any lodging
reservations. Upon receipt of your
confirmation letter, you must contact the hotel directly
to guarantee your room with a credit card (800/228-9290). If you do not have access to a credit card,
you may contact Claudia Wilson at the Marriott (630/573-8555, ext. 6618) and
make arrangements to send a deposit of one night’s room and tax ($97.01) via personal
check or cashier’s check. You will be reimbursed your deposit (minus
incidentals) via mail within 10 business days after the conference. Reservations must be made by October 3, 2008.
It
will also be necessary for you to present a major credit card or a $25.00 deposit, cash or check, at
the time you check in to the hotel to cover incidental expenses. (If unused, this payment will be refunded
when you check out.) If you’ve already
sent a cash deposit, no credit card will be required at check-in. If no deposit is made to cover incidentals,
you will not have the opportunity to direct bill anything to your room, e.g.,
outgoing telephone calls, pay per view movies, restaurant charges, or room
service. Upon check-in your room and tax will automatically be billed directly
to IFAPA.
Cancellations In
the event that you need to cancel your conference registration, you will need
to call both the DCFS Registration
Unit (877/800-3393) and the hotel (800/228-9290), or the hotel will charge you
for one night’s lodging.
Attendance of Children Due
to liability issues, limited space, and the working focus of the conference, children may not attend.
Shared Accommodations Due
to the limited number of sleeping rooms, foster, adoptive, relative and
guardianship caregivers must share a room.
Couples or friends who wish to lodge together MUST note their request on EACH
of their Registration Forms. DCFS
Training will try to accommodate all roommate requests. If not indicated, DCFS Training will arrange
shared room assignments. In the event of
no-shows, roommates will be reassigned.
Travel Expenses The
Illinois Foster and Adoptive Parent Association has received a grant from the
Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to cover all hotel
accommodations and meals for DCFS foster, adoptive, relative and guardianship
caregivers who qualify. This grant
does not include reimbursement for travel expenses. Therefore, DCFS-supervised
foster and guardianship parents may contact the DCFS field office that serves
them to determine the process for reimbursement for travel and/or childcare
expenses in order to attend this conference.
Private agency foster, adoptive, relative and guardianship caregivers should
check with their agencies to find out if they can be reimbursed for travel
expenses. In all cases, caregivers must
ask BEFORE they attend the
conference. |
