How is IFAPA Structured?
Groups of foster parents unite to form small, local chapters. After electing officers and establishing by-laws, they apply for a charter from
IFAPA. The yearly charter fee covers liability insurance for all their meetings and special events. It also helps pay for
the running of a statewide association. Upon receipt of their charter, the elected local president is given a seat on the Council of Presidents. This council is responsible for advising and reviewing the
IFAPA Board. The Council of Presidents elects a chairman, who also has a voting position on the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors is comprised of seven elected officials and up to six appointed officers. The Council of Presidents meets four times a year, as does the
IFAPA Board of Directors. The meetings are open to all members of the IFAPA, and members are urged to attend. |
